Helping at Home
Home Learning
At Sunnyhills School we do not have a formal homework programme. Learning is something you do for yourself and work is something you do for others. We value the many varied opportunities that our learners participate in outside of school and the time involved in these activities. It is important after a full day at school that our learners have time to relax, play and build relationships with their peers.
We encourage students to enjoy personal reading and being read to by their whanau to increase their literacy knowledge and experiences. The exception to this is at the junior years we have home learning books to support the acquistion of foundation reading skills as they are learning to read as opposed to reading to learn.
Learning links can be found on all Year Group Sites should students wish to independently consolidate their learning.
Sunnyhills Helping at Home Brochures
Please find Sunnyhills helping at home brochures for year 1 through to 6 as attachments at the bottom of this page. It usually takes a child two years to move through one curriculum level.
This is a dictionary created by Jenny Eather. It contains a wealth of mathematics terms that we use at school and is useful for use at home too.
